Intro to moodle

What is moodle?

Moodle is an online e-learning platform also known as a Learning Management System. It is designed to be used as an online hub for your classes, or for your academic department. LMS applications such as moodle are the way of the future and moodle itself is currently used in over 220 countries!

Staff and students can access moodle from school computers, personal computers, iPads, phones and even from home by visiting the address - basically, if it can browse the Internet, it can use moodle!

The system has many features and more can be added in future. Here are just a few examples of what moodle can do:

  • File distribution (worksheets, revision notes, etc.)
  • Assignment submissions
  • Discussion forums
  • Grading
  • Instant Messaging
  • Online quizzes and tests

Files, folders and courses can be created and updated easily and you can even hide items from student's view. Hiding an item allows you to prepare your term, semester or year in advance, but only allow your students to access current work.

How do I sign in?

To sign in, click Sign in in the User Account Block at the top right of the screen. The User Account Block will always be displayed here for quick access to log in, log out or update your profile or user image.
